Libya War Lies Worse Than Iraq
By Thomas C. Mountain
July 23, 2011 “Information Clearing House” — Asmara, Eritrea: The lies used to justify the NATO war against Libya have surpassed those created to justify the invasion of Iraq. Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch both had honest observers on the ground for months following the rebellion in eastern Libya and both have repudiated every major charge used to justify the NATO war on Libya.
According to the Amnesty observer, who is fluent in Arabic, there is not one confirmed instance of rape by the pro-Gadaffi fighters, not even a doctor who knew of one. All the Viagra mass rape stories were fabrications.
Amnesty could not verify a single “African mercenary” fighting for Gaddafi story, and the highly charged international satellite television accounts of African mercenaries raping women that were used to panic much of the eastern Libyan population into fleeing their homes were fabrications.
There were no confirmed accounts of helicopter gun ships attacking civilians and no jet fighters bombing people which completely invalidates any justification for the No-Fly Zone in Security Council resolution used as an excuse for NATO to launch its attacks on Libya.
After three months on the ground in rebel controlled territory, the Amnesty investigator could only confirm 110 deaths in Benghazi which included Gaddafi supporters.
Only 110 dead in Benghazi? Wait a minute, we were told thousands had died there, ten thousand even. No, only 110 lost their lives including pro-government people.
No rapes, no African mercenaries, no helicopter gun ships or bombers, and only 110 ten deaths prior to the launch of the NATO bombing campaign, every reason was based on a lie. Read more …..
My correspondence to the International Criminal Court regarding the war crimes committed against the Libyan people, 6th September, 2011. No answer was the bold reply, not even a computer generated acknowledgement of receipt.
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
The prelude to the invasion of Libya was a call for a ‘No Fly Zone’. I had my reservations about the logic of this course of action, without a proper investigation of matters on the ground. The UN set out the rules of engagement and it would seem that NATO member States are contemptuous of the UN.
The member States involved in air strikes against the Libyan people include France, Britain, the United States, Canada, Denmark, Belgium, Netherlands and Italy.
Because of the criminal actions of NATO, I am compelled to request formal charges are laid against NATO for war crimes committed in Libya. Although I do not belong to a member State, as a humanitarian and citizen of the world, I feel it is absolutely necessary to speak out against what seems to be a pattern of behaviour for NATO, their actions do not gel with anything other than a brutal Imperialist agenda.
NATO have broken their UN mandate, and their catalogue of war crimes in Libya are increasing daily as they become more emboldened. They appear to have a total disrespect for human life, this being so, their presence in Libya is not valid. It would seem NATO believes it is above International Law. This will also be the public perception if their actions go unaccounted.
The international corporate media seem complicit in this travesty of human death and suffering and therefore have not been forthcoming with true and balanced reports of the real situation on the ground. However, one need only be able to use a computer to see vision of the dead children and grieving parents and valid reports from alternative media sources.
However, the following crimes are documented, I demand that the ICC take appropriate action, and have the leaders of the NATO alliance charged with these heinous crimes.
13 May 2011: The murder of 11 Muslim Imams in Brega.
30 April 2011: The bombing of the Downs Syndrome School in Tripoli
30 April 2011: The bombing of a Gaddafi residence, murdering Saif Gaddafi, his friend and 3 Gaddafi children.
12 June 2011: The bombing of the University of Tripoli. Death toll yet to be established.
22 July 2011: The bombing of the man made underground waterway, which supplies most Libyans with drinking water.
23 July 2011: The bombing of the factory that makes the pipes for repairing water system, and the murder of 6 of its employees.
8th August 2011: The bombing of the Hospital at Zliten. Resulting in the murder of 50 plus people, many of them children. Bombing of hospitals is against all international laws, and a most heinous crime.
9 August 2011: The bombing of the village of Majer, resulting in the murder of 85 civilians. Including 33 children.
The relentless bombing of the civilian population in Zliten and Tripoli, the death toll is unknown and may well never be known. NATO are committing serial war crimes and I DEMAND that the ICC address these crimes as a matter of urgency. This is absolutely necessary if the ICC wishes to remain relevant, and cares at all about criminal behaviour on a massive scale. Your role is to charge these criminals, the fact that they are a western alliance should be irrelevant.
It is obvious member States have been arming the Libyan rebels, in direct contravention of International Law.
It is reported the rebels have been identified as al Qa’eda members, a listed terrorist organisation, and a major reason for the “War on Terror’. Working with known terrorists is a war crime, and against International Law. This also makes the ‘War on Terror’ seem rather nonsensical. It is the cause of thousands of innocent deaths across the planet, the actions of NATO belie the real reason behind this excuse for endless incursions in Muslim lands.
It would appear NATO lied about their reasons for invading Libya. I demand that the ICC investigate these lies, and hold NATO responsible.
If the ICC refuses to take action on these matters their complicity in these crimes will mean they are happy to work hand in glove with NATO, rather than prosecute their crimes. In my mind, there appears to be collusion between the NTC terrorists, NATO and the ICC. The only solution to countering this perception would be to charge NATO with war crimes and crimes against humanity.
I demand that the ICC address these charges immediately, as you would any other entity suspected of war crimes..
